Growing Together
An all-organic community garden.
We’re committed to gardening as participation with creation. This is not about extraction, its about relationship.
ALL are welcome.
Refugium started as a way for St. Andrews Episcopal Church to share its land with the community. However, there is no requirement to be a church member to grow with our community garden. We welcome all types and shapes of gardeners.
A buzzing Apiary.
Thanks to a grant from the Kansas Honey Producers, we care for honey bees as part of our growing mission.
100% Rain water irrigated.
We aim to be responsible with all our resources. This includes our water. Instead of draining Cheney reservoir or ground water with a well, we’ve chosen an attitude of participation with creation. Rain water is collected off of the church building and used for irrigating plots.
Forest Rejuvenation.
In addition to garden plots for produce, we’re working to re-balance the forest ecosystem at the north side of the property. Work to control invasive species and replace undergrowth is underway.
